
As part of her Global Health Fellowship, our Founder, Leah curated Indigenous Health Winter Care Packages, providing winter essentials (hat beanies, winter gloves, fleece blankets, long socks, and flannel scarves) to the homeless Indigenous people in the urban areas of Montreal. This project was an opportunity to further her as well as our understanding of Indigenous health, homelessness, and street medicine. It helped keep those on the streets and in the shelters warm, supporting The Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, Resilience Montreal, and Projets Autochtones au Quebec (PAQ).

On August 15th, 2022, the Tooth Fairy Bags were donated to the communities on-reserve in Moberly Lake. With our intended audience’s age in mind, Tooth Fairy Bags were selected as a token to illuminate both care and magic in the lives of Indigenous Children. The project was born after seeing first-hand the realities faced by her people and after a conversation with our CEO, Leah Sarah Peer. Together, they crafted a plan to provide adequate oral care packages for those 0-8, the target demographic for COHI, a preventative cause to combat early tooth decay in small children and pregnant women.

On June 1st, 2022, the Baby Box Baskets were donated to Vita Centre and Birthright Brampton, small family planning charity organizations in the Mississauga/Brampton area. After receiving funding from the RisingYouth community service grant, Christina was able to support high-risk clinics, and birth centers that interacted with vulnerable populations. These boxes included baby wipes, diapers, formula, blankets, bottles for new parents, with 25$ UBER gift cards included inside handwritten cards with words of support and encouragement to new parents.

On April 15, 2022, 50 hand-curated Community Support Packages were donated to individuals in need near public stations, and shelters as well as to frontline healthcare workers passing by. After receiving funding from the RisingYouth community service grant, Jeninaah spent weeks gathering facial covering masks, travel-size sanitizers, wet wipes, and packets of tissues and was even able to include small bandaid packets into these customized individual care packages.

On February 5th, 2022, CARE Baskets were donated to Matthew House, Adam House, FCJ Refugee Centre, and Sojourn House, shelters that provide transitional and emergency housing to refugee claimants that arrive in Toronto. After receiving funding from the RisingYouth community service grant, Umme spent weeks contacting shelters, finding out their individual needs while also enriching her awareness of the difficulties faced by this vulnerable population.
